Louisiana has contributed significantly to the nation with its oil and gas, its many ports, and the access it provides to inland ports throughout the country; but this has not been without considerable cost to the state. Coastal erosion caused by projects to benefit the nation, including years of manipulating the Mississippi River, have made Southern Louisiana increasingly vulnerable to storms.
The residents of Louisiana have waited long enough for the hurricane protection they have been promised. Please include funding for 100 year storm protection for Louisiana in the upcoming emergency supplemental appropriations bill at the lowest possible cost share for the state.
